Social Skills Groups
How else can we expect to learn social skills if we do not have the context of others around us to support that learning? Small groups may consist of 3-5 participants ("Small Group") or a 2-participant group ("Buddy System"). Depending on your child’s personality and learning style, one model can be more effective than the other.
In addition, Autistic socialization looks different from neurotypical socialization. These differences are the basis for how we run our groups with Autistic children. Our overarching goal is to help neurotypical children to understand their Autistic friends and vice versa. There is no single way to be a friend and nurture relationships.
We’d love to work with your school!
